Subject: Will the market trade crop ratings?

IN
Just wondering if the market will trade any of these ratings USDA puts out or not. I know this is a futures market and the future seems to be bright and perfect for many depending who you ask *** I was reading my Cargill Elevate text and the crop ratings came in below by a couple of percent on soybeans and corn this week. Obviously data that was gathered last week and published today. So many areas that just got beat with rain and storms aren’t factored into it. But at what point do these ratings matter to futures traders? Sure they can look at satellite and NDVI ratings in almost real time but do the numbers that USDA publish get traded ever?

Sure we got a long time to turn things either direction but market for now is comfortable with direction we’re headed. That’s fine I’d agree we’re set up for a decent crop right now. Stand counts are low in a lot of areas but can’t count on that taking off huge bushels. Ask some on here and the stuff is in the bin and we should be growing 27 crop by now lol.

Oh well just seeing if anyone that knows more than me(doesn’t take a lot) can provide some input into crop progress reports effects on traders positions. If it were up to me and I was a trader, a 2-3% decline would make me caution liquidation of all of my longs like they have mostly done. I realize ratings will swing up and down each week but it does point out that problem areas are out there and can grow in size
