Subject: Hoe drill depth/ tire question

Ne Colorado
Hey guys with the decline of no till in the area, the lack of rainfall there’s a lot more hoe drills coming out of the weeds. This one hasn’t been used in almost 40 years but getting it cleaned up and field ready. Coming from a disc drill background I’m used to it being easy setting depth but on this, it must’ve been set with cylinder Blocks. Of course they’re missing. Transport and wing tires are on two different SCVs and are different length cylinders of course. I’m going to have to get to the field and guess a little bit but when setting depth on hoe drills, how much do you account for the tires settling into worked soil? I’m only going 1/2 inch deep on hay millet.

The tires will lift off the ground 5 inches with the hoes down so you can get crazy deep with this.
