we've swap a few ring gears around on old IH's and several on smaller air cooled engines, have also dialed in cams that way on diesel engines, just heat the gear evenly and you once it starts to move you have a few seconds to get it swapped over, may have to reheat. Just make sure you have the other flywheel marked where the gear goes.
