| Like most things. YOUR needs/wants matter. For me a rolling one (with Velcro) was fine. It kept prying eyes away, streamlined, protected stuff (to a decent degree) in the bed. (Pocket knife could defeat). But most important. Rolled forward I had full bed use. (Except on top of front lip)
Most slid 3 piece. You need to remove to get full bed use. Consider how you use truck bed. I have seen guys brag on one piece fiberglass unit with hinges, gas strut arms…beautiful arched, color matched bed cover….. few months later it’s gone. “It kept getting in the way”. Too much work to put on, take off…”
I like toppers. One truck out of state, still has it on. 4x8 2 wheel trailer with wire ramp. $500 so I don’t need to remove it.
I put in cross bed tool box. Love it, bought one for 1 ton. Box sits in shed. It gets in the way, I shouldn’t have bought it. (Used, cheap so no big deal)
So is security, ability to haul large stuff more important? | |
