I readily admitted that I didn't give the Mac a fair trial. My point is that I have not yet seen, heard, or experienced anything that would motivate me to switch from Windows to Mac. So why bother spending more than a few minutes playing in the store? (during which time I did enjoy the prettiness of the Mac UI, but I don't buy a computer because it's pretty. I buy it because it does what I need it to do - like you, it's "what's under the hood and behind the scenes" that counts to me. Since Windows does this admirably, and less expensively, I have no reason to look elsewhere.)

"It's virus-free" - besides being a bogus claim (and I'm not saying you're making this claim), it doesn't sway me. I run both software and hardware firewalls, antivirus and anti-spyware, and I don't chase emails that promise me an unclaimed fortune in a Nigerian bank, and I can honestly say that I have never had anything even approaching a crippling infection.

"It's easier and more user-friendly" - that is the most common claim I hear from Mac users, but I have never seen any side-by-side comparison that gives concrete evidence to support this claim. Not trying to pick a fight here, but can any of you Mac-o-philes submit a "top ten" list of actions/functions that are easier to accomplish on a Mac vs PC? I would be very interested in something like this.

I am very intrigued by Windows 7. From all accounts, it's got most of the stability of XP, which Vista obliterated, and a nice upgrade to the GUI, which as far as I'm concerned is about the only thing Vista really had to offer.
