Subject: Re: Advice on a fence

northwest tennessee
I like the high tensile I have and am still putting it up. I do have a small calf go through it sometimes when they are from a day to about 3 days. I have one place I turn the power on the fence off when I have young calves. The shock is what puts them through at young ages. They dont have a reverse much at that age. The will go up and run their head through and get shocked at about the brisket and then jump through. If the power is not on they back out when not shocked. I did have a cow get through this past year after a bad storm we had. I have 5 wires and the top and second from the bottom is hot. This cow was raised on this place and will not get anywhere close to the fence but found her one night standing out in the road ditch looking like she had just seen her maker. She was scared to death and still had a calf in the field but was not moving. She went into a corn field and when she hit it was broad side by the way the corn was knocked down. She just came out and was standing with alot of white showing in her eyes. She was not trouble to bring back up and through a gate. There was lots of lightening that night and I wonder if she was hit some way and not killed but scared half to death. It was like she was thrown into the corn.
