every situation is different and if it accomplishs your goals then do it. It will increase the energy content of the silage. Chopping high is ok but you still get everything above the ear and that is more then below the ear byfar. If you are grinding feed to provide protein and minerals and vitamins I don't see the difference and why it would matter. I would think some ground corn would be better then more fermenated corn.
