Panhandle of Texas | I have purchased several items from Purple Wave, and so far I am very satisfied. I totally agree with the person that stated that you must go look at the items yourself, and do not depend on what Purple Wave says about the item. Here is a prime example: About 2 months or so ago, I purchased a KDOT mower. It was a Purple Wave auction. (and yeah, pknoeber, the mowers did bring good money) Before purchasing the mower, I went to KDOT @ Hutchinson, KS and looked 'em all over. My father-in-law rode with me, and I was interested in the 15' mowers, and he was onto a few of the N.H. tractors (he ended up getting 1 or 2 tractors). We get there, and I find that one or two of the mowers are torn up ~bad~ (i.e.: no middle blade pan, no blades, driveline either bent or missing, etc). I saw no mention by P.W. pertaining to the damage that I saw on those particular mowers. Had I been the buyer that ended up purchasing one of those mowers, I would have quickly learned my lesson about going and looking at the equipment; because those torn-up mowers brought the very same money as the "good ones" did. Seems like those mowers (the later model Schultes) brought about $4700 (+ B. Premium & Freight), and it has been a great mower ever since we got it home. Machinery Link brought it to me--I split a load with some guy that bought a mini excavator, and I was first on the route of unloading. So, word to the wise: Unless it's either a no-brainer (something like a crowbar) or it's nothing but chump change $ to you, I suggest you get a set of eyes on it. You either need to go look at the item, or get someone you trust to look at it for you; unless, of course, you know of the item personally or know the person who owns the item. . . Oh yeah, every PW auction that I have purchased from (about 5-7 of them, now) has had the buyer's premium tacked-on.
