Not 'here', but in many areas ear corn had a bit of a premium. It is a specialty, it requites handling & storing of more volume, and it is more physical labor, aslo harvests slower. It can be better feed for some livestock with the cob in. All that would give it a premium price.....

So, the other side of the coin. :)
