| Street numbers are a good thing when they can be given. Fields out in the middle of nowhere are trickier. I catch myself giving directions using locations where farmers used to live ages ago but the house is now gone, village names that only locals know because there are no signs up, business names that've changed since they were called "The Milk Mart" (now an Irving) or, my favourite, road signs that're there if you come from one direction, but aren't if you approach the right intersection from the opposite direction. You THOUGHT you were giving precise directions using road signs but... Oh, as far as the tech guy in the field goes, it reminds me of us trying to call for oil delivery out in the field. I can give exact, and I mean EXACT and PRECISE, directions to some places for the oil truck to go to find the burning crew, only to find the delivery guy wandering around lost and finally ending up at the shop because dispatch only told him "out in the blueberry field" and he was left to guess which one of many dozens it could be. Looking for smoke doesn't always work if they're out of oil. The farmer with the broken down combine might've given the dealer exact directions but had some of them get lost before they got to the service guy.
