You are close but a more reliable method is - lbs per acre equals kilo per hectare, less ten per cent = kilo per h. e.g. 80 lb per acre equals 72 kilo/H.
I know it is unlikely the US would ever change to metric but once you get used to it is so simple, truly. Even in measure things with a tape.
