Good Ol' East Texas | I never use the clutch when shifting. When I took my CDL driving test I didn't use the clutch and passed. The clutch does not help you get it in gear easier. The clutch does nothing when trying to shift because you still have to have the correct rpms to get it in gear with or without the clutch. The clutch is for stopping and starting. The clutch is different in a semi than in a car or smaller trucks. The semi's clutch does not match the rpms in the engine to the transmission like a small truck or a car will do. So shifting a semi is all throttle control. It just takes practice and feel of the truck to learn. The feel of the shifter will tell you exactly what you need to do to find the right gear. | |
