NW Washington | I have just about quit using my debit card in restaurants. I try to have enough cash to cover the bill and tip but if I have to use plastic, use a credit card that way it is not your bank account that is screwed up if someone swipes the card or uses the number.
If I have good service, I usually just double the first number, like a $44.00 tab gets $8, less for poor service or a self serve operation.
Our son worked in restaurants as a waiter and bartender a lot while going to college and I have been a little easier on waitstaff since then.
He always did surprisingly well, especially since tips are not taxed. | |
