Which blower do you have on your system? If you have the Roots blower, you might be able to get an extra 200 bph if you go up to 30HP. You can go up to 40 HP on the better blower and really increase your capacity. The airlock is not your bottleneck with only 20HP on a 5" system.


My guess is you have the Roots on a 20HP system. HP will help you somewhat but only to a limited extent. I would make sure your air filter is clean and check for any air leaks. You might also want to check the tolerances on your airlock as they will eventually wear and slow your system down. These systems will slow down a little over time as components wear, but upgrading is not a simple or cheap task. You are probably on single phase power with a twin 10HP system, so the next step might require three phase or a phase converter to go up to 30HP or beyond.
