Subject: RE: head gate

Driftless SW Wisconsin

I would recommend the Formost A25 auto catch headgate, mounted maybe to two RR tie posts at the end of a home made wooden alley and swing gate "tub".

I also looked for a used squeeze chute but very unsuccessfully. Most of the used chutes I saw came with a phrase "it just needs a little welding"...

I would suggest either make one or look at a low cost but serviceable new unit such as Formost. Unfortunately handling systems are a must whether you have 5 head or 500. Look at it as cheaper than the medical bills...

OR just buil a wooden corral and alley near the road and let your vet bring his own chute when he comes. Mine charges $25 to bring his chute w headgate. Can't beat that price.
