Valparaiso, NE | Learn how to shift by double clutching, on a 9 it is usually about a 500 rpm change between gears. Having a light load seems to keep momentum up a little better than empty. Be patient. if you miss a gear it is sometimes better to stop and start over, at least until you get the hang of it. It is easier to upshift with a slight downhill grade, but not so steep that it will run away from you.
Be very gentle on the throttle, dont mash it to the floor. Ease in and out of it. Keep the rpms low makes for easier shifts also.
DONT RUSH IT. Take your time that is the most important thing.
If you know any veteran truckers with a lot of patience, those are probably the best guys to learn from.
Patience and practice.
Dont give up and you will eventually get the hang of it. | |
