My 2002 Dodge Cummins was the last year before the common rail injection. It made enough noise you could not sneak up on anyone or ease into the driveway late at night! The newer ones are quieter so I'm trying all avenues. There is a lot of expensive stuff up in front on those diesels. The whistle instructions say you have to be going at least 30 mph for the whistles to work...sort of carrying a rabbits foot? I should probably put a heavy grille guard up front with as much fall northern driving I do. Except last one I hit in ND actually ran into the side of the truck and was caught by the box. Guard would not have helped. There have been a couple times with the whistles on that I have seen deer headed toward the road and as I approached stopped and turn back. They might have done that anyway but it crossed my mind that the whistles had some effect....
