Ethridge, TN | Original problem was that we lost the front seal on the input shaft. When I pulled the original seal out, it just looked like the lip had gotten cut, so i just replaced the seal. didn't last 4 hours and it did the same thing again. First time, I just removed the front shaft, and did not detect the excessive end play in the shaft itself. Second time around, I pulled both front and rear shafts, and said now I know why. That ring carrier rides in the front housing that holds the yoke. There are 4 sealing rings with channel the shift oil to the clutches. It had gotten loose enough, it was allowing high pressure clutch oil to come against the seal, force the lip out, and then it would get cut off. Had to replace that housing cause it had cut grooves in it. That is part of what took so long to get parts, as both the carrier and that housing where on back order. Only fortunate thing was that there was a container that had just arrived from Japan, and dealer was able to get the parts worked past the normal packaging channels to get them to us faster. | |
