Tilley, Alberta | I too only have Hesston small square knotter experience. For what it's worth, when ours would do that, often the twine holder tension in the twine box had loosened up either from wear, or a part of a sticker from the start of a new twine ball got jammed in there. When the tension there is reduced, the needles yank the string out with such momentum that it that twine keeps travelling out of the spool temporarily, causing it to "overrun" its intended destination to be picked up by the twine finger or "tucker finger". the result is what your pic shows. I hope that helps you out. Knotter troubles can be such a pain at times. Good Luck.
