I’m
Considering trying to wrap some dry hay to save some barn space this year any advice on this how many wraps and such
I shoot for a minimum of 6 mm, so 6 wraps of 1 mm or 5 wraps of 1.2 mm, which I prefer because it doesn't tear if you're wrapping on a hot day. At 20-35% it isn't likely going to ensile much, which is fine but I wouldn't recommend keeping it over another year. For true hayleage, I wouldn't recommend going above 50% or so, though you can usually go up to 65% with greenfeed. I wouldn't recommend wrapping anything that's been rained on as the sugars will be lower and won't silage properly. Regardless, getting the right amount of wrap on can make up for a lot of mistakes. |
