Crossbreed4440 - 4/18/2021 19:51 I’m Considering trying to wrap some dry hay to save some barn space this year any advice on this how many wraps and such I would use 6 wraps (5" overlap with standard 30" wide plastic rolls) and make sure the inline wrapper is set with enough brake pressure to push the rolls tight together. Any air pockets between bales will lead to mold. On hay moisture at baling, I see best results/longest storage life if I wrap at mid 30's % or drier. At higher moistures you really have to use the bales faster than i need them to avoid molding once the tube is opened, somewhat like bagged haylage. Drier bales also had less ice under the plastic when the weather is below zero F. Wrapping freed up my hay shed space for equipment storage. Wrapping also let me store hay in different locations closer to where it is fed rather than in one central hay shed.
