Subject: RE: John Deere Riding Mowers

East Central Arkansas

We have a X300 that has been a good mower. Ours has the Kawasaki engine. I don't know if they still make that model or not. Ours has the 42" deck and it isn't as heavy duty of a deck as it should be. I will admit it has been used on a large somewhat  rough country yard. They say the 48" is a heavier built deck. Part of my thinking when I bought the 42" was just two spindles and two blades instead of three of each. We also had some areas I felt I didn't want the deck any wider than the machine width. My mother is 95 and ran it mowing her large yard up until the 2020 mowing season. I don't plan on getting rid of that mower but would like to get another tractor type that would get the job done faster and also have a smoother ride when mowing at a fast speed. I was picking up some parts at JD the other day and noticed the new larger tractor mowers they had on display had a different seat. I didn't have time to sit on one or ask about them.
