Something else to think about is bale tension. I lower my belt tension, try to make my bales just heavy enough to come off the bale ramp (New Holland RB560). If I leave the tension the same as grass alfalfa (usually 1750 to 1800lb bales) they are too compacted for open feeding in a bale ring. Cows can not get them apart after they sit for a couple months. Also I do 3.5 wraps for my own bales, 4.25 if I sell them and they are going to be transported.
