Subject: Gleaner L Series Corn Headers / First Time Doing Corn with a Gleaner

ND
So looking at getting a 630 or a 830, anything we should know?

Our L3 is a "Corn/Soybean" with Sunnybrook cylinder, has the variable speed drives, but is there something that needs to be added to make it work? I've heard something about a cylinder or line for the variable? Start at the book settings and go from there? Lower the curtain and put the bent sheet metal back in above the chopper, and then run the chopper on the slow pulley? It also has the screen on the sieve bottom, do we also need the screen doors for the elevators? Anything else?

$1000-3000 too low?

I mean we expect some work, but don't want to buy a parts header and fix it up.

Corn is going up and buying from the neighbors are getting expensive, so its about time we get into it we figured. Dad has grown corn before, but not where we are now and not with a Gleaner.
