In all my career as a STO, I haven't spent $40K on any piece of equipment. My most expensive purchase, was a tractor, for $25K.
Can't imagine spending double that, or more, just for a pickup.

Things are different for different people. I just ordered a new pickup truck. My truck now has about 100,000 miles on it and is 7 years old and looks really nice yet. It is worth around $25,000 and to trade it in makes sense to me because I drive it every day and it's not hard for me to justify something that I use every day. It keeps me in a reliable truck that I am proud of and doesn't get me so far behind that I can't afford to ever buy a new truck when it instead gets 20 years old. The cash difference would be unreal. Whatever works for you is fine. Whatever works for me is fine.
