Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Friction in a line is cumulative, that means it adds up. Anyway you can reduce the friction you should help the flow. While it is true that a chain is no stronger than its weakest link, the comparison isn't valid for flow through a hose.

When I was on the local Fire Department it was common to use 1 1/2" hose and fittings and also 2" hose and fittings. Obviously the 2" flowed more. Our 1 1/2" hose needed to be replaced. We got talked into getting new hose that was 1 3/4" hose but had 1 1/2" fittings so it could couple to our other existing 1 1/2" nozzles etc. There was better flow in the 1 3/4" hose even though the fittings were still 1 1/2".
