N W Ohio | The percent of slope is figured in 100 feet increments. For example if laser is set at .10 that’s one tenth of a foot (1.25 inches) of rise in a hundred feet of run. So in your thousand foot example you would go up 1 foot in elevation with your laser set at .10. What I do is survey the where I’m going to put a tile line and measure the length, then it’s just rise divided by run x 100 and that what the laser is set at to follow the ground elevation.
Example:
1.2 feet of rise over 800 feet of run
1.2/800 x 100 = .15 percent slope
