They are a pretty good motor. We used to rebuild them for resale.
They are fuel efficient, start excellent. Being a V8 engine they do not have good low end torque. Our first Steiger had one and we still have that tractor 40 years later. We rolled a set of rods and main bearing in it, run it above 2200 rpm and not above 2600 rpm. Still does not use oil and starts everytime.
It is not worth much and we just use it to pull Amco
disk to break up new ground with heavy sod.
I did use it with 19 shank chisel plow a couple years ago to try to dry some patches of wet ground. Stalled the engine in a hard spot and chisel pulled tractor backwards in gear. Engine ran backwards for 15 seconds or so. Thought I broke the engine but started back up and runs fine.
If I bought a 3208 to use a lot the first thing I would do is roll rods and mains in it if you do not know the engine.
I see they are using the 3208 in alcohol pulling tractors now.
