Who says it does not? I have never heard anyone state anything about corn like that. It's yield being better when more evenly spaced is why we went from 40" to 30" rows and now to 15" rows. If it could be seeded equal distance apart you get better yield but you still need a way to harvest it so it is hard to plant says 8" apart in all directions in a field unless you want to combine with a bean head and run all that stalk through the combine.
