| Hey Guys,
I live in Northwest Oklahoma where our biggest crop is Hard Red Winter Wheat. This year we tried 160 Acres of Hard Red Spring Wheat. It was on two separate 80s. They averaged 15 bushel an acre. One place we applied 20 pounds of Nitrogen and it had a protein average of 10.7%, the other place we applied 40 pounds of Nitrogen and it averaged about 13.5% Protein. The Variety of Spring Wheat we planted was called Brick. I was wondering if any of you guys had any experience with this Variety? When we were cutting it it was one of the toughest varietys we have ever threshed. I had the Concave Completely shut down on our John Deere 7720 Combine and I still had a lot of un threshed Heads Coming in the grain bin. I aslo noticed it had Skinnier heads as compared to our Hard Red Winter Varietys of Wheat. I thought I might continue to try it on a field or two in the future. I was also wondering you guys that are in a Hard Red Spring Wheat area what other varieties do you guys like that has Good yield potential, Good Protein and Good test weight and is easier to thresh? Here are some pictures of the Hard Red Spring Wheat when I was cutting it.
Thank You,
