Recently I have been adding a few gallons of water every day that it does not rain.
I made a number of holes in the bottom of all of the wading pools so over watering is not an issue.

The 2 photos in my original post don't show that I actually planted snap beans around the perimeter and cucumbers in the middle of the corn. It has been interesting observing the battle for water... the cukes always start to wilt first, followed by the beans followed by the corn.

The cukes haven't amounted to much but I have harvested lots of snap beans.

I filled the pools with varying mixtures of sand and compost... the pool with the corn has only compost.

The corn is a purple flour corn with kernels more than twice as big as normal #2 dent... it is tasseling so late that I don't know if any ears will reach physiological maturity.
