I got a Farmex HT-Pro handheld tester from Nasco last summer because of the same reason you are looking for one.

It gives temp and moisture and has a long probe, I think I gave around $200 for it, but it was well spent.

The biggest thing I noticed was how long it took for the temp to go down in the bales (never), and how high the moisture content was in certain spots in the bales. If I remember right, the tester had an upper limit of 35%, and it maxed out in spots.

We fed it as fast as we could, and still had quite a bit of spoilage in some bales.

Used it on some first cutting bales while we were still in the field and as the other guy said, we quit much earlier than we used to.
