Not saying your wrong but sometimes even in really big heifers the canal just isn't big enough for the calf. I do believe genitcs do play a role also. Seems like I've always heard jersey cows have a big pelvic area generally even know they are typically a smaller breed. My hat is off to you as well as to pulling zero calves. Seems every year or so I'll have one not coming right on a cow that needs pulling also. If your doing these numbers in a large herd setting that's awesome and the rest of us should take notes.
