Once again for those that aren't familiar with it, the vet actually has a tool that he inserts to measure up and down and side to side. About 14 months is the right age, but seems like we are always earlier. The measurement he gives can be adjusted for age and weight. He will also score the tract for development. We about always have a few that don't have a tract, a twin to a bull. To the posters below, not saying you are wrong,,,but maybe only partially right. Here the cows purposely aren't too big, selecting against it for years with the bull selection. So, we're kinda looking at it 2 different ways. We don't select FOR maximum pelvic size per se,, more like against small ones that won't work. For the run of the mill cow guy, or somebody buying unknown origin hfs out of the salebarn for replacements,,,it's a no-brainer
