Biggest cockroach I've ever seen was about 65 years ago in the bathroom of a Galveston Texas motel. Almost 3 inches long.
When we lived in Florida and South Carolina in my Navy days we called those big cockroaches "Palmetto bugs". The Orkin man sprayed our apartment on a regular basis and we used to have a huge toad that sat by our back door eating bugs attracted the light. All part of living that part of the country.
