NE Iowa | I never met Francis but his farm was about 40 miles west of us. He planted corn less than 2 mph and used about 400# of N as anhydrous applied with 12" spacing. He used mini-molboards on a plow which left the ground similar condition to being disc chiseled. All corn on corn with dry insecticide and farm had crazy high P & K from decades of hog manure. We are generally lucky when it comes to precipitation so likely that irrigation would not have improved yields much. Not sure about the wagon cheating but his gravity boxes were small so 1.5 acres of 400 bu/acre corn would have taken several wagon loads. His CSR's were not terribly high because the ground had some significant slope. Good soil type but the slope drug the number down.
