Don't judge to quick on the guy not having more money.
I have 2 out of 3 siblings that if they had to help pay for my moms funeral they couldn't come up with the money for flowers
let alone the casket. And they both have good jobs. So guess who is left looking out for my parents well being even after death.
By the way my wife is working with Mom on getting all final arrangements set and paid for.
