You say "he helps me". Do you pay him adequately in return for his help? Perhaps you could make a written contract with you paying for the cheapest cremation funeral avail in return for X hours of his services. Teach him some responsibility.
That would be indentured servitude which is illegal. Though “guy that helps me” makes me wonder if proper taxes and withholdings are being reported, which would also be illegal, so maybe the OP isn’t worried about a little more illegal being thrown in to the mix.
