Been there and done it.  Group of us guys pitched in to pay for old guys wife's burial.  One of the better things I have ever done.  We watched the old man hand dig her grave at the cemetery.  It was hard to watch and not help.  Several years latter the old guy crashed into one of my fences and while I did not file charges or collect money.  Had him hand over his drivers license to the SHP.  That hurt, but it was done to protect him and others. Second crash in 6 mths.  Visited with the person responsible for the old man and they said do it so they would not have to.  Things like this just seem to work out.
