Sanilac Co. Michigan | Well, since you say you found it on a gravel road I'm thinking it's not native to the land the road is found on, but rather came out of some gravel pit who knows where. Kinda looks like some fossilized coral to me.
This part of the world close to the lake we have lots of petosky stones...calcified remnants of long extinct coral. Gets dredged up and processed as various types and grades of gravel, along with granite and quartz to which over the ages its cemented itself to. I believe that's pretty much what you've got there. | |
