Subject: Planting Behind Vertical Tillage

mascoutah, IL
Was wanting opinions on planting beans behind a VT tool. This would be one pass in the fall on corn stalks and then one pass in the spring. Ground would be clean. I fall or spring spray. Talked to a couple guys in the neighborhood and one says it's still too rough, other says it's fine. I'm not looking to make powder out of it. In the past we have disked in the fall and then one pass with a field cultivator in the spring and it was good enough. Problem is stalks are getting worse every year, field cultivator won't go through this year without a disk first. Couple other questions. My local dealer is a caseih ( literally a mile away ) so they have the 335 and the Krause Kuhn excellerators. Which one do you guys prefer? Last question. Would be pulling with a 9200 or 305. Dealer thinks 28ft would be good. I pull a 31 ft disk with both tractors but he doesn't think I could get enough speed with a 31 footer. It's raining now. Says he can get me one in a couple days. Just waiting on prices.
