Both engines will have oil filters on the LH side of the block (cartridge or spin-on) in the same location. The only difference between cam and crank driven oil pumps is that directly underneath the oil filter will be a cup plug if it's cam driven. This is to access the oil pump drive gear, which is driven off the cam. If it's a crank driven block, you'll still see the cast bulge, but it will not be machined, and there will be no cup plug.

Having said all that, I don't know why you couldn't convert a cam driven block to a crank driven. You just cant go the other way.
