Iowa | And so are the trim boards. They used to "flash" the joints with tar paper, but it ends up staining the siding. Now they recommend tyvek house wrap and no caulk at joints, but it seems there are lots of variations. We were told to use shingle nails and blind nail it. Buy the $70 saw blade. Drill it if nailing in a "corner of the siding or it will break. You shouldn't have to drill the rest of the holes--just any close to a corner edge. There are lots of choices for corners, window trim, etc. I used the boards that are about 5/4 X 4 and it looks nice. Doesn't swell up and get wavy, either. I always said I'd never use siding again that had to be painted, but I am glad I did. Holds paint really well and looks much better than vinal. I like the looks of the wood grained stuff | |
