Not all softener salt is potassium. Some of the pellets are sodium. Read the bag.
We used to run whatever salt was cheapest as a limiter in our feed. Put right in the mix mill, ran the pellets thru the hammers, or dumped the crystals in the supplement hopper. It was hard on the grinder after a decade or two. I’d think you would be ok for just a pallet.
