Northeast Iowa | Agree with RF190 in that the older Teagles without dual chop won't process it that fine even when using knives in a baler. Can get down to 4-6 when baling with knives or 8-12 without knives. Straw will also vary on how it was put up.
No experience running double chop machine so not sure if they would even get it down that fine. At time I purchased my 8080, I was told the dual chop feature was for bedding material only. Not sure if thats changed.
Included a pic of 4x5 round alfalfa baleage lenght after processing. These were baled without using baler knives. Length is 8-12 inches.
