Missouri | Awesome pic. The first calf shows some of the breed character I wish I could get locked back into my cows. That wide chest floor, stout neck attachment, wide eye set, dished forehead and heavy muzzle. Even the horns that came out but didn't get very long. The cows from the lines that displayed those characteristics always hung around the longest here and held their condition through the bad years. They marbled like crazy too.
The little bull calf's mother is sired by a now fairly rare non belt buckle bull from the 1960's who shows some of that head character. I was having trouble finding anyone to sell me his semen so we went after his daughter. If I can pry an amp out of someone, I hope to flush her back to her grandsire this spring and cross those daughters back to today's genetics.
