Subject: Re: Air Cart behind Row Crop Planter

We have a 16 row planter. The 1720 cart we have has 8 outlets. The previous owner bought splitters that split the hoses in two. This way each of the 8 outlets run two row units.

Typically an air cart is similar to a box drill except all of the meters are in a row within a few inches of one another at the bottom of the air tank. Each seed/fertilizer meter drops seed or fertilizer down into the airstream of that meters corresponding air hose. I believe John Deere 1910 air carts may be able to have as many as 16 meters, but I'm not for certain on that. If you have a cart that has say 12 meters and you have a 16 row planter, you will probably end up just blocking 4 of the meters off from within the air tank.

Our neighbors who run the 1910 air carts had to do some modifications to their carts to make them run down 30" rows. Our older flexicoil 1720 cart runs down 30" rows with no modifications, but it's not as big. We had ours shipped down from Canada because we couldn't find any at the time that were closer. So far it looks like it will work well, but we haven't been in the field with it yet.
