I think swkscornfarmer knows a thing or two about growing corn in hot dry conditions. Just look at his username? Yeah, I'm guessing he probably does. I don't know how you guys can raise corn consistently out there with any degree of success. Maybe he plants March 1st with an earlier hybrid and 18,000 population. If I planted that instead of 34,000, I could go a lot longer without a drink too. That many plants require a lot of water.
