I tried both July & Aug temperature anomaly as well as Aug precipitation and it made no improvement in the model. Both June & July precipitation were highly significant as well as June & July precip squared to account for too much rain was helpful. I wonder if Ill. stays cool enough most of the time to avoid the heat stress maybe more common further west.
