Sioux County, NWIA | I have figured that the reason we have humid summers in this part of the world is due in part to being in the middle of millions of acres of rapidly growing crops. Very dry air is not unheard of in the early part of the growing season here. The crops here are about a whole month behind, and the humidity level seems to reflect that.
As long as the crop establishes roots here, we are quite resistant to drought. Our subsoil profile is saturated, and 2012 was a lesson in how long our subsoil moisture will support a crop. | |
